A story from union member F.R.
I hope this finds you well. I am writing to share my personal experience as a former full-time employee of a major ALT dispatcher, where I worked from 2007 through 2017. My intent is to raise awareness about potential issues with pension contributions and records, which could significantly impact employees’ financial security during retirement.
During my ten years with this company, I was dedicated to my role and believed in the company’s systems. However, I recently discovered a serious issue that has caused me significant distress. While processing my pension benefits, I learned that the Japanese pension office has no record of my employment with them. This was particularly shocking given that my pay stubs did not provide a detailed breakdown of deductions, making it difficult for me to verify that my pension contributions were being accurately reported.
Despite notifying the pension office prior to my resignation in 2017, and receiving an assurance that they would look into the matter, I have yet to receive a response. The emotional and financial stress caused by this situation has been considerable, as I am left wondering how many other employees might be in the same predicament.
I urge all employees to be vigilant in verifying their pension contributions and to regularly check their records with the pension office. Transparency in payroll systems is essential, and I hope that sharing my story will encourage others to take proactive steps to protect their financial future.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I hope it serves as a reminder of the importance of self-advocacy and vigilance in managing one’s employment and pension records.
