We call for an immediate revision of the minimum wage to exceed rising prices
In October last year, the minimum wage was raised by 3.3%, but this was not enough to keep up with rising prices. In January this year, the consumer price index rose by 4.3% overall and by 6.3% for daily necessities (compared to the same month last year). The revision of the minimum wage, which is lower than the rate of price increases, is a big problem because it is a real wage cut.
Sign the petition to:
- Revise the minimum wage above the price rise as soon as possible in the current financial year, not just in October.
- Aim for a minimum wage of 1,500 yen per hour.
- Revise the system towards a uniform national minimum wage system.
- All minimum wage councils to be fully open to the public.
