The General Union’s IT/Tech Branch kicks off 2025 with an important workshop for tech workers, “How to Fight a PIP” (register at rsvp.genu.cc/fightPIP).
Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) are becoming increasingly common in Japan’s IT/Tech industry, but many workers don’t know their rights when confronting them. Following our recent article exploring PIPs in detail, we’re hosting a practical workshop to help tech workers understand and fight unfair PIPs.
Join us on Wednesday, 22 January at 19:30 for an online session covering:
- A brief introduction to the General Union and how we protect tech workers
- Understanding PIPs: What they are and what they aren’t
- Real experiences: A guest speaker shares their successful PIP challenge
- Practical strategies: How collective union power can help you fight unfair PIPs
While PIPs can feel threatening, Japanese labour law provides strong protections for workers. Learn how the union can help you navigate these situations effectively.
