Our Strategy for Harassment

There are many members who have felt harassed at work one time or another. However, more often than not, harassment isn’t a personal thing – It’s a workplace culture that needs to be addressed. The manager that is harassing one person is likely acting the same way to others. The unmanageable workload that is being put on one person’s shoulders may actually be an issue throughout the whole organization.

The reason it isn’t stopped is because of a framework that allows the issues to continue. Perhaps there are no repercussions for hostile action, or the managers are also in between a rock and a hard place having to assign unreasonable tasks to unhappy employees while upper management looks more at profits than reality.

In situations like this, the best way forward is to organize. By methodically building numbers, as members at Okinawa International School have learned, individual issues become group issues and are taken more seriously as a result
