Online Public Workshop: Understanding and Combating Power Harassment

Sep 7, 2025

Power harassment, sometimes called abuse of authority or workplace bullying, can be confusing and difficult to deal with. Many workers in Japan are unsure of what legally qualifies as power harassment, how to recognize it, and what steps to take if it happens.

To support employees in protecting their rights and peace of mind, the General Union is hosting a free online public workshop with three chances to attend:

Sunday, September 14 at 10:00
Thursday, September 25 at 19:00
Monday, September 29 at 20:00

These sessions will help you answer the question: “Do I have to put up with this?”

What You Will Learn

Participants will gain practical knowledge about:
✔ What power harassment is and what it is not
✔ Common examples in the workplace
✔ Legal protections available in Japan
✔ How to safely report incidents
✔ What happens when you speak up

This workshop is for anyone who has experienced harassment, wants to better understand their rights, or wishes to support colleagues in their workplace. Everyone is welcome, so feel free to bring along friends, family, and colleagues.
