3rd Consultation Training Session Hosted by GU Fukuoka Office!

Dec 11, 2024

The Fukuoka Office of the General Union is preparing for its third Labor Consultation Session, scheduled for Sunday, December 15th. The session will focus on social insurance eligibility and employment contracts, addressing growing concerns from workers about contract terms and insurance coverage.

The union has been actively conducting street-level outreach, adapting their approach by moving from busy city centers to suburban station areas. They’ve created a more welcoming environment by setting up tables and chairs, offering coffee to encourage more in-depth conversations with workers seeking advice.

Recent consultations have highlighted several key issues, including workers starting jobs without proper contracts and questions about insurance eligibility, particularly for freelancers.

The outreach efforts have yielded interesting connections, including engagement with a blind volunteer eager to support the union’s activities, discussions with potential teaching staff about Board of Education positions, and networking with individuals researching AI surveillance in Japanese workplaces.

Through these ongoing consultation sessions and outreach activities, the General Union continues to strengthen its presence in the Fukuoka community while providing essential support to local workers.
