Petition Explanation

In an ongoing battle against unfair labour practices committed by Nagoya International School, the General Union has been tirelessly fighting for justice for the past three years. As we approach the deadline for submitting final statement at the Osaka Labor Commission, it is crucial to garner support for our cause. We kindly request your signature on the petition, urging relief orders against the school’s actions.

Nagoya International School’s actions have raised serious concerns about the treatment of workers and their union rights. Even during the examination process, the school has been accused of engaging in additional unfair labour practices, exacerbating the already critical situation. These incidents require immediate attention and resolution.

What exactly did NIS do?

Union member MS, a dedicated teacher at Nagoya International School, joined the union with the hope of improving the working environment and advocating for a fair workplace. The member also asked that her issues of workplace sexual harassment were also addressed by the employer. The school answered her union membership and sexual harassment complaint with a contract non-renewal.

This action violates the Trade Union Law and highlights the need for accountability.

In addition to the mistreatment of MS, Nagoya International School we have accused NIS of another unfair labour practice after the school head publicly defamed the General Union to current employees, going as far as publishing slanderous remarks on the school’s website. Such behavior is concerning and undermines the principles of respect and fairness.

Both Osaka Zenrokyo and the General Union have jointly decided to petition the Osaka Labour Relations Commission, seeking comprehensive and effective relief orders. As members and union activists, we ask for your support by signing the petition. Your signature will amplify our collective voice and demonstrate unity in the face of injustice.
