Disaster preparations at Gaba Corporation

Oct 5, 2014

When the March 11th earthquake struck in 2011, Gaba was not adequately prepared. Many instructors are worried that it still isn’t. On September 29th we sent official correspondence to the company asking them what measures they have taken to comply with the government ordinance.

According to the government, companies should keep three days worth of food (three meals) and water (three litres per day, for a total of nine liters) and a blanket for each person who works there. It says that companies should keep a number of other things as well, such as helmets and medical supplies. This ordinance was passed in April 2012 has been in effect since April 2013.

You can read about the ordinance in greater detail on the Tokyo government’s website in both in English and Japanese.
