The new union branch was able to win back some of the cut wages for a short period but we have never been able to win back the cuts have never been beat and a wage freeze has been in place since. The union was able to win certain right for teachers like recognition of employment status, paid holidays, and social insurance (for some).

Members now feel that the time is right to demand a wage increase of ¥100 per hour. They will add demands for job security to make sure that class assignments are negotiated with the union and for more freedom in their use of paid holidays.

Members are determined to win some improvements to their lives.
