Berlitz collective bargaining – November 2012

Jan 10, 2013

3. Break Policy Current policy is that teachers can be required to teach up to six classes in a row. With the teacher’s consent, seven classes may be possible and either the first or seventh lesson will be paid at the bonus rate.

4.Paying for all time worked. This is a demand that the union has been working on for some time. The employer’s answers at our latest round of collective bargaining has not satisfied the union that teachers are not working during break times. The union’s demand is simple, pay teachers for the work that they are definitely doing before, between, and after classes. We have left Berlitz with one question, “When should teachers be picking up their teaching materials for the upcoming class?” We’ll let you know what they say.
