Gaba Branch Update – November 2013

Dec 2, 2013

(1) As most instructors know, on October 21st Omiya LS GU member Pascal Burel went missing while hiking. While the union helped to raise funds to support a private search, unfortunately Pascal has not yet been found. We would like to thank everyone who donated money, publicized the Facebook page, or shared the Japan Times article about the situation. ¥534,600 was raised, which helped to reduce the burden on the family at this difficult time.

(2) On October 4th the GU and Gaba signed a grievance agreement which obliges the company to promptly and fairly deal with individual complaints. For details see here.

(3) The next negotiations between the GU and Gaba have been scheduled for December 4, 2013.

(4) Plans for the Christmas party on Sunday December 15th are coming together. I’m looking forward to the rock music and drumming, and we hope that you can all make it, it is open to members and non-members, and entry is free.

For more information see the event’s Facebook page.
