In talks on February 24th, management had still not decided anything about pay increases. A sticking point for the union is the pay raise evaluation system, including the weight given to management evaluation, re-signs rates etc.
We believe the system to be unfair. Under the current system, it is almost impossible for any teacher to gain full marks due to the type of lessons taught. For example if you are teaching all FTLs, management evaluation counts towards more than 80% of your pay increase. Negotiations continue tomorrow, March 6, and the union will keep you updated. Once an agreement has been reached, those eligible for increases will be paid retroactively in the first few months of the 2015 academic year.
