To be honest, given the company’s history, we saw little chance of recovering the money without suing in small claims court. But thanks to the GU’s pressure on the Labor Standards Office to to take action against Lang, along with written demands and numerous telephone calls, we were successful in getting the money paid.
We have also been successful in having the school enroll teachers in the Employment Insurance fund. This is essential as the school has obvious financial problems. We have seen similar situations in the past where the company eventually went bankrupt.
