ECC is using Typhoon Talas as a reason not to pay their wages. Part-time teachers and the union are dumbfounded. On Friday evening, part-timers were told that they would be paid, only to receive a phone call on Saturday morning saying they wouldn’t be paid and their services wouldn’t be needed. The union is now demanding that part-timers be paid as originally promised. UPDATE ECC has agreed to pay union members as originally promised. No word yet what will happen for non-members. It pays to be a union member!
